Ten individuals found guilty of cyber-bullying targeting Brigitte Macron

A Paris court has ruled against ten people for perpetrating the digital intimidation of Brigitte Macron, the wife of the President of France, Emmanuel Macron.
The accused individuals faced allegations of disseminating fabrications regarding her gender and sexual orientation, in addition to publishing malicious remarks about the couple's 24-year age gap.
The court handed down suspended jail terms of as much as eight months to the convicted individuals. The full ruling has not yet been published.
A longstanding false narrative claiming that Brigitte Macron is a trans woman has existed since her husband's initial election in 2017.
This recent ruling in France is concurrent with the Macrons initiating a libel case in the United States of America against right-wing influencer Candace Owens, who has repeatedly shared comparable unfounded claims about the first lady's identity.
Their complaint contends that Owens ignored all credible evidence that refuted her assertions opting to amplify the voices of notorious conspiracy peddlers.
Owens has regularly repeated these allegations on her show and online platforms, and in March 2024 declared that she would stake her entire professional reputation on her insistence that Mrs. Macron is biologically male.
Brigitte Macron first met her future husband when she was a teacher at his high school.
The pair married in 2007, when the future French president was 29 and she was approximately 54 years old.
